Southeast Orthodontics Celebrates Two Years in Mansfield with Dr. Gamm
Posted on 07/29/2019

The sentiment is the same across the board—it’s hard to believe it’s been two years since Southeast Orthodontics has come to Mansfield! Most surprised of all is Dr. Benjamin Gamm, who has seen his own personal well-being soar since joining the Southeast Orthodontics team in 2017.

A well-established orthodontist with his own practice in Mansfield for over 20 years, Dr. Gamm was feeling the crunch of owning a business in early 2017. “Running the practice, dealing with insurances, and managing the staff made me unhappy and stressed,” he recalls. “I wasn’t enjoying myself during those times.” When Dr. Brian Gaudreault of Southeast Orthodontics approached him with an offer to merge practices, Dr. Gamm’s decision was an intuitive one. Two years later, he’s part of a team of experienced doctors, with whom he can collaborate and strategize, while focusing most of his energy on caring for patients. “I am not on an island when it comes to diagnosing and treating,” he says. “I can now bounce ideas off of my colleagues on difficult cases to come up with the best treatment plan.” He is now, in his own words, “enjoying myself tremendously.” He gets to continue to treat his loyal patients in Mansfield, as well as meet new patients from surrounding towns like Foxborough, Plainville, Norton, and North Attleboro. Dr. Gamm and Southeast Orthodontics are committed to treating the Mansfield community and beyond for many more years to come, and Dr. Gamm has no plans to retire any time soon.

Dr. Gamm’s former practice, Gamm Orthodontics, was acquired by Southeast Orthodontics in June of 2017. Southeast Orthodontics now serves five communities and their surrounding towns in southeastern Massachusetts, with locations in Mansfield, Raynham, Lakeville, Dartmouth, and Nantucket. The physical offices, new and existing, were renovated and updated with the latest in orthodontic technology, such as cone beam 3D imaging and digital impression capabilities. One of Dr. Gamm’s goals, in entering this new phase of his career, was to update his personal knowledge of the most current orthodontic tools available. “I have been exposed to techniques and cutting edge equipment I never dreamed of seeing [prior to the merger],” says Dr. Gamm. “The things I have learned would blow your mind”—the latest and greatest being computer-generated archwire technology, which we detailed in our January 2019 blog post.

Improvements in patient communications, insurance processing, and scheduling tools have helped streamline the patient experience in the past several years. “When patients arrive, they will notice how in-sync everyone is and how pleasant an experience it will be,” Dr. Gamm says of the patient experience. Respect for patients’ time is key: the staff strive to see patients on time, every time. Perhaps above all, the doctors’ ability to travel and collaborate has made them invaluable to the communities they serve. With more doctor-patient face time, convenient hours and locations, and happier, more knowledgable doctors, Southeast Orthodontics aims to be the best in the field!

For his part, Dr. Gamm brings his 26 years of experience to the practice, as well as his joy of helping people. He has the unique ability to bond with and relate to younger patients, as well as their parents. This is and always has been his favorite part of the job. “I’ve learned that life can be so much sweeter when you do what you love and not what you don’t,” he says. “Interacting with patients and parents, treating their bites, and perfecting their smiles is what I love to do.”

Though Dr. Gamm is no longer practicing alone, he wants to reassure the Mansfield community that he hasn’t gone anywhere—in fact, he’s joined forces with talented, personable doctors whose work he can vouch for. “I feel like [we’re a] family,” he says. “I am friends with the other doctors and I enjoy both our professional and personal relationships! It has been a great marriage. I can’t believe that two years have already passed. Time flies.”
